We kept moving through Francis Schaeffer's A Christian Manifesto, unboxed a set of books we've been waiting on for a while, dug into a book on faithful preaching, and got honest about what our phones are doing to our ability to think. We're two episodes into our study through Francis Schaeffer's A Christian Manifesto. Episode 1 laid out why the Lordship of Christ covers all of society, not just Sunday mornings. Episode 2, released this month, goes deeper into the foundation: what is truth, and why does Schaeffer insist Christianity is a claim about total reality — not just private spirituality?

Douglas Kelly is a Presbyterian pastor, theologian, author, husband, and father of five. Born in Lumberton, NC, he studied Classics at UNC and went on to earn his M.Div. at Union Theological Seminary before further study at Edinburgh University. Preachers with Power is one of the most encouraging books we've read on what faithful preaching actually looks like — it fills in a great deal of context about the American South before and after the Civil War, and makes connections you're likely to miss by only reading primary sources.
