Life: Most of us here know at least something about Joel Beeke, and there is so much to talk about when it comes to Beeke, but I’ll try to give some info here for context. Beeke grew up in Michigan where he still resides. He was born into a Christian home, and was saved by reading Puritan works. In high school, he read the biography of Spurgeon and wanted to drop out of high school to preach, but his father and pastor advised against it. Instead, he finished high school, and after briefly serving in the army, went to Western Michigan University and transferred to Thomas Edison State College to graduate with a BA in Religious studies. 3. Overall Summary/review:
Very short book, but packed full of helpful biblical thoughts and advice about marriage.
This book is very much like a marriage counseling session and feels as if you’re sitting personally with Beeke.
The book is split into two sections with follow the title of the book. First, the book takes you into what it means for married couples to be friends and second it looks at what it means for married couples to be lovers and sexual partners. (p. 8)
Beeke also dives into some more controversial topics like birth control and pornography. (56-57, 68).
