Overall Summary/review:
This is a very lovely book about family worship as the title suggests. It exhorts the heads of families to lead their families in worship, but it also shows the blessing that worship is, and the blessings that worship will bestow upon the family (preface).
I was expecting this to be a little bit dull or completely about Richard Baxter like a dissertation, but it really wasn’t like that. It was much sweeter. And even though Baxter was writing a very long time ago, he writes about things that apply to today (p. 101).
It does, however give a lot of biographical information (p. 17-23) and historical context about Baxter which I think is nice. Beeke also notes this when he says (back cover).
Another thing I really appreciated was his second appendix on p. 115. It walks you through a possible family worship liturgy.
